Schuyler Society
Schuyler Society is an active organization in the capital district of New York, meeting about twenty times throughout the year. Meetings are held at the Gen. Peter Gansevoort DAR chapter house (Van Schaick Mansion), members' homes, or other historic venues. Annual events include the Cohoes Memorial Day Parade, a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day, July 4th citizenship ceremony, the Schuylerville Turning Point Parade, Battle of Saratoga commemorative wreath laying at the Saratoga National Park, and Wreaths Across America. Annual traditions include a bowling and laser tag outing in the summer and an Oktoberfest in the fall. Schuyler Society has been recognized as a national gold merit society and has won numerous awards at the state and national level. Schuyler Society's 50+ members include the current president of the New York State Society.
